Chelsea v Blackburn – With Chelsea being in ridiculously bad form lately, they will be desperate for a win over Blackburn Rovers. A 7-0 win against Ipswich in the FA Cup, may be the confidence boost Chelsea have needed. Chelsea have only won one game in their last 8 Premier League matches, including their last Premier League match when they lost to Wolves. Blackburn have recently defeated Liverpool, and also progressed to the next stage of the FA Cup. Chelsea are 2/7 favourites to win this match, and I think they will beat Blackburn comfortably, especially after their drubbing of Ipswich Town. Frank Lampard to score first is at 11/2, so I’d recommend him.
My recommendation; Chelsea 2-0 Blackburn (5/1)
Manchester City v Wolves – The away side here are starting to get a bit of a reputation against the bigger sides in the league. Beating Liverpool away a few weeks ago, as well as home wins against Manchester City and Chelsea. They also went close to securing a draw against Manchester United earlier in the season too. Manchester City have been in good form of late, especially at home, where previously they had problems scoring. They have defeated Aston Villa and Blackpool in their last two home games, without conceding, and I would bet on similar events to occur here. Edin Dzeko to score on his debut is 11/4, although he may start on the bench, so I’d back Tevez at 11/4.
My recommendation; Manchester City 1-0 Wolves (6/1)
West Ham v Arsenal – Avram Grant is under pressure at Upton Park, and many believe he hasn’t got a lot of time left in charge. They host Arsenal this weekend, who have failed to win their last three games, with two of the opposition being a Championship outfit. They failed to break down Manchester City last week, and needed a last minute penalty to draw at home to Leeds. In midweek they lost to Ipswich in the first leg of the Carling Cup 1-0, with a very poor performance. West Ham, who are still in the Carling Cup too, defeated Birmingham 2-1 in the first leg at home. Arsenal will need to win this game to keep the pressure on Manchester United on top, but West Ham are as desperate for points, as they are currently the bottom placed club. Arsenal should win this, but it will be trickier than most will expect, which is why I am going for a draw, with Van Persie scoring the first goal, with odds at 4/1.
My recommendation; West Ham 2-2 Arsenal (16/1)
